My prediction for the 2021 creative industry is that more media and content creators will develop a fresh and exciting perspective about their stake in culture. The people who take the time out to create meaningful productions from their phones and turn their homes into studios will wake up to how significant they are to the economy and the world.
For a long time, we expected our media to only come from a few places. Now more than ever marginalized perspectives, original ideas, and thoughtful dialogue has its chance to shine through the power of the internet. I predict a behavioral economic shift — from platforms owning creators to creators owning platforms and distributing their content and value with more control, intent, and responsibility.
