We’ve been living in a world where companies’ main priority is financial maximization.
The status quo of success is getting millions of dollars in funding and hockey stick growth. And this year, more than ever, we saw the ugly of “growth at all cost.” Growth at the expense of people’s rights, equity, mental health, and livelihood.
In 2021, I hope to see more leaders expand on value-oriented goals in addition to profit goals. Challenge societal defaults. Not as a performative act or in fear of getting called out. But with the brave belief that companies and the workplaces are responsible for societal changes.
People make companies. It only makes sense for companies to take care of the people who work for them and move society forward.
