Animated Videos scope of work total: $6,500

Phase 1: Design for $2,500

As an illustrator, there’s no better way to start a new project than with a mood board. Based on what the client is looking for, you’ll create a moodboard for the animated video project. To make the process as smooth and collaborative as possible, develop a mood board that the client can easily contribute to. Our scope of work template recommends pricing three mood boards at $1,000.

For this video project, you’ll also want to create a storyboard based on the video script. The storyboard will include a series of thumbnail sketches that show the breakdown of the video and illustrate the key scenes from how the setting will look to who will be present, and what actions will take place. Create three storyboards for $1,500.

Phase 2: Animated Video Development for $2,100

If you haven’t already, now is the time to team up with a fellow independent. This project calls for the expertise of a 2D/3D Animator to help make your illustrations come to life.

For this phase, you will illustrate the character designs for use on websites, in promotional videos, or at events. The illustrations will be based on the client briefing and will be prepared to hand-off to the animator that you partner with. Create 3 designs for $1,500.

The animator will then create short 2D animations that promote the brand or explain topics. These animations will be used on the client’s websites and social media. Our template recommends charging $600 for 3 animations.

Phase 3: Final Production for $1,900

For the final phase of the animated videos scope of work, the animator will take over the final production.

Start by editing the existing video into shorter clips to be used on social media. These assets may also be used for various platforms including the client’s website. Charge $1,000 for up to three assets. If the client wants more than three, adjust your price accordingly. After all, your services are the power behind your business. The more specific you can be with what your scope of work includes, the clearer the communication is with the client and the chances of scope creep are greatly reduced.

Finally, the last step of the scope is to mix audio for short online videos. These videos include interview footage, soundbites, and background music.
